2013 summer internsFive students were recently selected by PACT for a one-year internship program, now in its second year. The interns, pictured above, include Jack Roche, Ilaria Lampson, Isabella Joseph, Sara Kenney and Joe Viola. Their mission this summer is to find ways to promote drug and alcohol-free opportunities for students in the Pelham community. They will be building and maintaining social networking profiles and a website to advertise these opportunities to high school students. The website, titled “What’s Going On in Pelham,” aims to connect Pelham students to volunteer opportunities and community activities, in addition to special events hosted by local organizations. Interns will also attended Youth to Youth’s 2013 Summer Training Conference at the University of Rhode Island in late July to engage with other Youth to Youth chapters and bring ideas back to Pelham. Local organizations looking to advertise events for teens or volunteer opportunities that students may use to fulfill their community service requirement should contact the interns at whatsgoingoninpelham@gmail.com or through their Facebook profile: What’sGoingon InPelham.

PACT is a community coalition encouraging youth to make healthy, safe and substance free choices. Visit us at pelhampact.org and like us on Facebook.
