Get Involved

Want to know how to get involved with Pelham PACT Coalition? First, sign up to receive our monthly e-newsletters so you know what’s happening at the organization. Please follow us on Facebook and Twitter, and comment, like, and share your favorite posts!

Youth

PACT encourages Pelham teens to get involved with its Youth Leadership Council, a student-led/adult-guided group that works to create community change. From organizing and running teen social events around town to developing social media campaigns and other social action steps on issues of interest to them, young people gather bi-weekly to socialize, discuss and engage in making their community a better place. All youth events, information, and opportunities are posted on the youth-run Pelham LOFT’s websiteFacebook, Twitter, and Instagram. YLC meetings are held every other Sunday at 4pm at J Café. The next meeting is Sunday, April 2, 2017.

Any Pelham teen is invited to attend any of the upcoming Pelham LOFT events! The next event is Kahoot! Night followed by a community-wide festival at Glover Field called Field Fest. Email Sarah Buckley or check out the Pelham LOFT Facebook for more information about upcoming events.

Parents

Parents can get involved in several ways with PACT. You don’t need to have teenagers, and we encourage parents of younger kids to get involved now!

  • Nominate a teen for our Heart of Pelham PACT (HOPP) Award. Click here.
  • Volunteer to be an adult guide with the Youth Leadership Council. Email Sarah Buckley if you would like to get involved in this way.
  • Serve as a PACT representative on your school’s PTA. Email Laura Caruso if you would like to get involved in this way.
  • Join the HOPP Selection Committee or the Internship Hiring Committee. We are especially looking for adults who do NOT have teenaged children to participate in these elements of the organization. Email Laura Caruso if you would like to get involved in this way.
  • Attend events with your family. PACT hosts two Town Hall Meetings each year and often partners with other local organizations on documentary screenings, panel discussions, and more. Attend and participate with your family! Our next Town Hall is a screening of the documentary Screenagers on March 14 at The Picture House.
  • Assist on teen projects. The young people who participate in the YLC and in the Summer Internship Program are exposed to trainings and expertise in a number of real-world skills. If you have a particular expertise (marketing, grant-writing, interviewing, event-planning, etc.) consider sharing those skills with Pelham youth. Email Laura Caruso if you would like to get involved in this way.

Community

The Pelham Community is the backbone of PACT. We encourage local community members to get involved in the following ways:

  • Nominate a teen for our Heart of Pelham PACT (HOPP) Award. Click here.
  • Join our Community Advisory Council. We meet twice a year to connect around what’s happening in Pelham, how to get involved with PACT’s youth initiatives, and to develop ways that we can all support each other as we work with the youth in our community. Email Laura Caruso if you would like to attend the next meeting, which is planned for April 20, 2017.
  • Share your expertise with PACT. As a small nonprofit organization, PACT is always in need of pro bono support. We are also interested in finding local adults to share their expertise and professional skills with our YLC and at youth-focused events. Email Laura Caruso if you would like to get involved in this way.
  • Financially support PACT. Serve as a sponsor of our quarterly HOPP Award or one of our youth events hosted by Pelham LOFT; buy ads in the Community Calendar of the Pelhams; or otherwise donate money to the organization. Email Laura Caruso if you would like to support PACT in this way.
  • Donate in-kind items to the organization. We are always looking for venues for meetings, and with the Pelham LOFT and YLC planning more and more events, we are always in need of donations of food, drink, space, money, and more. Email Laura Caruso if you would like to support PACT and the YLC in this way.
