interns-2014Six Pelham high school students were recently selected by PACT for it’s one-year internship program for 2014-2105. The internship program is now in its third year is led by PACT’s Youth Prevention Coordinator, Rhenecia Perry, and will integrate leadership skills and opportunities throughout the program. The interns, pictured at right are, from left to right: Bill Mottola, Samara Sober, Amairani Marin, Kerry Mallinson, Noela Malecela and Meghan Petti. Their project this summer will include conducting a physical scan of Pelham, recommending potential improvements in the community and utilizing and maintaining social media to connect and engage youth in positive message and activities. Interns also attended the Youth to Youth Leadership Training Conference in Rhode Island in late July. Throughout the school year, the interns will participate in a newly formed Youth Leadership Council with the goal of elevating the youth voice in the coalition’s decision making process. Current and past PACT interns will be invited to participate in this Council to help the coalition better understand issues effecting high school students and to ensure that our strategies will be effective.

PACT is a community coalition encouraging youth to make healthy, safe and substance-free choices. Visit us at pelhampact.org or like us on Facebook.
